Aureus University School of Medicine has undergone rapid expansion with more than 20,000 square feet of classroom and laboratory space. Around the clock security is provided for student safety, and free wireless Internet access is available throughout the campus.
Located in Aruba’s capital city of Oranjestad, Aureus University School of Medicine’s beautiful campus includes two state-of-the-art buildings providing classroom and laboratory space. Histopathology labs are well outfitted with the latest technology and equipment, and cadavers are available for dissection during anatomy sessions.
The modern school cafeteria provides a variety of food and refreshment options, and there are lounge and gymnasium areas for student relaxation and exercise. The Aureus library is continually expanding and provides a wealth of easily accessible resources and services. More than 50,000 books, articles, and journals are provided for students via physical and E-Library.
HOUSING: Private houses, apartments and rooms, all conveniently located in the local community, are available for students to rent. The Aureus housing coordinator offers helpful assistance to make the process as easy as possible.
New spacious and modern on-campus dormitories are offered, and depending on availability, incoming freshmen may receive a double dorm for up to two semesters, FREE!
TRANSPORTATION: A convenient bus service runs between San Nicolas and Oranjestad every hour. If desired, students may rent or buy vehicles locally at reasonable rates.
Government-regulated taxi service is offered throughout the island, and there are many scenic walking, hiking, and biking routes available.
RECREATION: The island of Aruba is one of the most well-known and sought after holiday resorts in the Caribbean. Almost all sporting facilities are available on the island, along with endless recreational and tourist attractions. From fine dining to snorkeling, there’s something for everyone.
A variety of hotels and restaurants cater to a wide range of tastes and cultural cuisines (far Eastern and Western).
WEATHER: Aruba enjoys a dry and sunny climate which is kept pleasant and temperate year-round due to the cooling effects of the trade winds. The average annual temperature is 83 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius), and rainfall amounts to just 17 inches a year, most of which occurs during the months of October and November.
Aruba is located well below the hurricane belt and has been spared the devastating effects of storms that regularly affect the Caribbean medical schools located farther north.
